Monday’s Giants News: Signed DE Renaldo Wynn

June 02, 2008 By: Keith Category: David Tyree, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants, Renaldo Wynn No Comments →

We all know that most of the success in ‘07 came from the pass rushing schemes designed by Spags and executed by the defense.  After the regular season ended, the Big Blue Wrecking Crew led the NFL in sacks.  After that, Spags kept getting better and better in the Playoffs.  I can’t even begin to explain how impressed I was with Spags in the Playoffs.  He constantly made the right adjustments in each game to shut the opponent down as the game went on.  So how do you get even better in ‘08?  You retain Spags, you retain the players on defense, and you sign another DE like Renaldo Wynn.

New York Daily News:

Reports: Giants sign Renaldo Wynn - The Giants reportedly have signed veteran DE Renaldo Wynn.  Wynn most recently played for the Saints and was drafted by Tom Coughlin’s Jaguars in 1997 our of Notre Dame.

The Star-Ledger:

Veteran DE Renaldo Wynn agrees to deal - Mike Garafolo reported, “The team came to terms on a one-year deal with veteran free-agent defensive end Renaldo Wynn this weekend, according to someone informed of the progress of talks between Wynn and the team.”

Harrison comes to terms with Tyree’s Super Bowl catch - Mike Garafolo included an excerpt where Mike Reiss of The Boston Globe found out that Rodney Harrison has not forgotten about David Tyree making the greatest catch in Super Bowl history on him.  Here’s what Harrison had to say about that play almost four months later:

Not in a million years does he make that catch again. I don’t have any regrets on it. I saw the ball, went up for it, and did my best to grab it out. It goes on his head, so what can you say?

I think you have to understand that certain things happen that you just can’t explain.

Wednesday’s Giants News

April 23, 2008 By: Keith Category: AFC North, AFC West, Cincinnati Bengals, David Tyree, Jeremy Shockey, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, NFC East, NFC North, NFC West, NFL, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Redskins Comments Off

Chad JohnsonChris Mortenson of ESPN.com pointed out that the Redskins made an offer for Chad Johnson, but the Bengals rejected it.  We don’t need more whining premadonna Wide Receivers in the NFC East.  T.O. is more than enough for me to stomach over the course of a season.  Who wants to watch a guy running around yelling “Ocho Cinco” with Hogettes in the background?

NFL.com reported that Shaun Alexander was released by the Seahawks.  The Seahawks will be coming to Giants Stadium in Week 5, and I’d rather they came with Alexander then without him.  What happened to Alexander?  This guy was an MVP a couple of years ago.  Then he had two horrific years.  It looks like he lost his love for the game or something.  Now Big Blue will have to face a real back in Week 5.

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com reported that the Vikings gave up three 2008 draft picks to the Chiefs for one of the best DE’s in the NFL, Jared Allen.  On top of the draft picks, the Vikings had to give Allen a six-year contract worh $74 million, with $31 million in guaranteed money.  This makes the Vikings ‘D’ more nasty then they already were.  The Giants will close out the 2008 season against the Vikes, and we don’t need any more reasons for Eli to throw 4 INTs.

Newsday:

Giants should trade unhappy Shockey - Arthur Staple tries to convince us why the G-MEN should trade Jeremy ShockeyThis article was really good so I’m not even going to summarize it.  Just go check it out.

Tyree gets knee scoped - Tom Rock also reported that David Tyree had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee last week and will be sidelined until at least the start of training camp in July.  The New York Daily News reported this yesterday.

New York Daily News:

Seattle pursuing Jeremy Shockey - Ralph Vacchiano found out that the Seattle Seahawks are also interested in Shockey.  Vacchiano didn’t include any specifics about a trade.  Ralph just wrote that Mike Holmgren is looking to upgrade the Tight End position.

New York Post:

GIANTS PICKING TE WOULD BE A REAL SHOCK - Paul Schwartz believes that if the Jints select a TE in the Draft then Jeremy will be traded.

The Star-Ledger:

Tyree forced to have knee surgery - Mike Garafolo got David Tyree’s thoughts on having surgery, “I’m not a big fan of surgery; I’m a big fan of hopefully God healing me. But God chose not to heal me this time. He said the Super Bowl was enough.”

Tuesday’s Giants News: T.O. in Porn Shoot?

April 22, 2008 By: Keith Category: Dallas Cowboys, David Tyree, Meadowlands, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants Comments Off

Dan Gross over at the Philadelphia Daily News wrote this post, “T.O. smiling in the background of a hardcore porn shoot?“  Gross included an image with T.O. or a T.O. look alike, and he wrote this about Terrell Owens,

Terrell Owens

If you can get past the big booty in the foreground, look to the right of this picture and tell us it doesn’t resemble Terrell Owens. The former Eagles wide receiver is rumored by several blogs including Philly Edge, With Leather , Kissing Suzy Kolber and TheDirty to be the extra man in this picture, which is practically the only safe-for-workplace-viewing image on BangBros.com, a hardcore porn site. Owens is not pictured in the rest of the series of photos/videos called “Spring Break Ass,” which were posted on BangBros.com yesterday. You can imagine where it goes from here. “He fixes the cable?” “Big Lebowski” fans may ask. We called BangBros.com earlier today to see if the porn outfit could confirm that is Owens with a cameo in their footage. We are awaiting a reply. Owens, now with the Dallas Cowboys, is represented by Drew and Jason Rosenhaus, who, like BangBros.com are based in Miami. Messages left for both Rosenhauses were not immediately returned this afternoon.
Only Philly fans would find this.  So T.O. would be the guy to the far right, and it looks like T.O. to me.  He must’ve needed something to do after the Giants ended the Cowboys Postseason run early.  The dude is checking out T.O. instead of the chick which is a little strange.  He must be shocked that it’s T.O. too.  T.O. the Porn  Star.  How funny is that?  This guy continues to do anything to make the headlines.  How funny is that?  LMAO. Newsday: Giants might use first pick on a linebacker - Since the Giants lost Kawika Mitchell and Reggie Torbor in Free Agency, Tom Rock believes that the Giants will select a Linebacker in the first round.  Rock says that the Giants may pick one of these three LBs: Dan Connor (Penn State), Jerod Mayo (Tennessee) and Curtis Lofton (Oklahoma).  Tom wrote up a mini Bio for each one of these guys.  I have seen Conner and Mayo in other Mock Drafts, but I never saw anybody else say Lofton. New York Daily News: Shea, Meadowlands among facilities helping spread green message - Filip Bondy tells us how Shea Stadium and the Meadowlands are going green.  “It’s not easy being green” David Tyree has knee surgery, may miss start of training camp - Ralph Vacchiano wrote this, “Super Bowl hero David Tyree had surgery on his right knee last week and might not be ready for the start of training camp in July.”  There’s nothing wrong with having offseason surgery.  It seems like David Tyree will be healed in time for the Preseason or the Regular Season. New York Post: SAFETY NET - Paul Schwartz believes that the Giants might pick Miami Safety Kenny PhillipsPhillips has also been in some other mock drafts. The Star-Ledger: Tyree out until camp with knee injury Should the Giants draft a TE? - Mike Garafolo takes us through a role playing scenario where we get to play GM.  Garafolo poses a question, provides you with all of the details needed to make a decision, and then asks us to make a decision. David Tyree at Safety? If Not Then Who?

March 20, 2008 By: Keith Category: Aaron Ross, Corey Webster, David Tyree, James Butler, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants, R.W. McQuarters, Sammy Knight Comments Off

David TyreeI just came across a very interesting article over at the Giants Blog on LoHud.com.  Ernie Palladino is trying to figure out who is going to play Safety for the Giants in ‘08.  Palladino expects Sammy Knight to play in the place of Gibril Wilson.  However, Ernie doesn’t know about the other side.  Palladino stated that he read a lot of theories about what could take place, but he didn’t provide his sources.  Here’s some of what he said could happen:

  • Aaron Ross drops back to Safety.
  • Move David Tyree to Safety.
  • Corey Webster drops back to Safety.
  • R.W. McQuarters drops back to Safety.

Ernie does not believe that Ross will play Safety because he’s only going into his second year and why mess around with a good thing.  Palladino thinks that Tyree would play the position if asked because Tyree is a team guy and plays on Special Teams and Wide Receiver, but Tyree would be like a rookie back there as a Safety.  Ernie doesn’t feel comfortable with Sammy Knight and James Butler back there, and he doesn’t really like the other suggestions that he read about so he says that the Giants should just draft a Safety and develop him “ala Michael Johnson”.

For the most part, I agree with Palladino’s perspective.  I would leave Ross where he is because he’s young and played his position really well as a Rookie.  After watching Tyree play so well on the Special Teams unit, I always thought he would’ve been a better receiver than he has been.  In Super Bowl XLII, Tyree was so effective because of the ‘element of surprise’ rather than his receiver skills.  I’m sure that the Patriots were not studying film about Tyree catching a touch down in the Super Bowl or making the greatest catch in Super Bowl history even though Tyree is listed as a Wide Receiver.  I would want to know if Tyree can tackle if he was going to play defense.  As far as moving the other Corners to Safeties, that doesn’t sound like such a bad idea to me as long as the Giants have depth at both positions.  Drafting a Safety also doesn’t sound like a bad idea to me if the Giants signed somebody high in the first or second round like they did with Ross last year.  Ross was able to make a big impact in his first year, after getting Star Struck in Big D in Week 1.

On the road to Super Bowl XLII, it was very evident that the old dogs like Madison and McQuarters were able to teach the young guys in the secondary how to stop guys like Galloway, Owens, Driver, and Moss.  Madison and McQuarters were injured in some of those games, but their knowledge of the game cannot be overlooked.  Hopefully Knight and McQuarters can do the same thing in ‘08, especially if the Giants are drafting a rookie or are going to drop a corner back to safety.

Sunday’s Giants News: CB and Backup QB Search Continues…

March 09, 2008 By: Keith Category: David Tyree, Detroit Lions, NFC East, NFC North, NFC West, NFL, New York Giants, St. Louis Rams, Tom Coughlin No Comments →

Brian KellySo Brian Kelly signed with the Lions and Trent Green is expected to sign with the Rams today.  So the Giants are still searching for another cornerback and a backup quarterback.  You would think that the it would be easier for the Super Bowl champs to fill their needs than teams like the Lions and the Rams.  Both of them are dome teams which I don’t like anyway.  Green already played for the Rams so he might feel comfortable there, but they were 5-11 in 2007.  Both of these teams must be opening their checkbooks for these guys because it makes no sense for a player to choose the Lions or the Rams over the Giants…

New York Daily News:

Tom Coughlin ecstatic about new deal - Ralph Vacchiano got some quotes from Tom Coughlin regarding his new contract.

I was thrilled to become the head coach of the New York Giants in 2004. It would be difficult for me to capture the emotions for the opportunity I was given back in 1988 to be an assistant coach with the Giants. And then to have the opportunity to be the head coach was the fulfillment of a dream of a lifetime.

And now to be able to continue in that capacity - with this organization, with this leadership, with this football team and with my coaching staff in place - is something my family and I are extremely excited about.

At the end of the article, Vacchiano reported that Brian Kelly agreed to terms with the Detroit Lions yesterday.  Trent Green may sign with the St. Louis Rams today.  The Giants were interested in both Kelly and Green, so they can be scratched off the list of available free agents as well.

New York Post:

TWIN PEAKS - Paul Schwartz interviewed David Tyree regarding his twin baby girls, Sophia and Hannah.

KUDOS TO TOM - Paul Schwartz also captured Tom Coughlin’s emotions over the new contract.

The Star-Ledger:

Coughlin contract finally a done deal

Kelly won’t be a Giant

Thursday’s Giants News

March 06, 2008 By: Keith Category: David Tyree, Eli Manning, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants, Sean Landeta, Tom Coughlin No Comments →

Sean LandetaThe Giants are still looking into some free agents, but they aren’t as busy as what other teams are doing.  Since Jerry Reese said that the Giants will be relatively quiet during free agency, I’m waiting for the Draft which is still a ways away.  That’s when Jerry will be busy so I want to see who we are getting already.

Newsday:

Giants’ Tyree still catching a hero’s reception - Bob Glauber discusses how popular David Tyree has become since becoming a hero in Super Bowl XLII.

New York Post:

COUGHLIN PACT IS LIKELY TODAY - Paul Schwartz revealed that the Giants should officially announce Tom Coughlin’s contract extention today.

ELI GLAD TOM’S BACK - According to Brian Lewis, this is what Eli Manning had to say about Tom Coughlin:

We came in the same year; he [traded for] me, and we’ve had our ups and downs. One thing a quarterback and a head coach share is you get too much blame after a loss and too much credit after a win. We both understand that.

But we have a great relationship. We understand each other. I’m excited for him that he’s going to be our coach for a long time, and we’re looking forward to it. It’s a tribute to hard work.

After you win a championship, you’re going to lose a few guys; that’s just part of the deal. Other guys have to step up. I’m happy we have all our offensive guys coming back, at least.

The Star-Ledger:

Needell: Favre presser - Paul Needell expressed his thoughts on Brett Favre’s retirement speech.

Needell: Landeta ‘retires’ - Paul Needell noted that former Giants Punter, Sean Landeta, officially filed his retirement papers today.  Landeta hasn’t played since 2005.  Mike Garafolo wrote that Sean waited to retire because:

Today, March 6, 2008, marks the 25th Anniversary of the first game played in the United States Football League (USFL) between the Philadelphia Stars and the Denver Gold. It was the game in which punter Sean Landeta made his professional debut. Now, a quarter century later, the longest tenured and one of the best punters in NFL history will hang up his cleats for good as he officially announces his retirement. He becomes the final player from the USFL to retire.

Giants wooing CB Kelly

Ex-Buc Brian Kelly on tap for visit - Mike Garafolo pointed out that Big Blue is still looking for another cornerback.  Former Bucs cornerback, Brian Kelly, is supposed to visit the Giants today.  Kelly, 32, played opposite of Ronde Barber and visited the Lions yesterday.

David Tyree Interview

February 28, 2008 By: Keith Category: Brandon Jacobs, David Tyree, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants No Comments →

Around 6:30 pm, I was listening to ‘Steve Somers’ on WFAN.  They had David Tyree on, and they asked Tyree what the name of the catch is, how did he maintain possession of the football on that play, did the defenders make contact with him as he was coming down with the football on that play, how does he catch the most unbelievable play in a Super Bowl as a special teamer, how his life has changed since winning Super Bowl XLII, when does he start focusing on 2008, how does he explain winning all of those road games, how did the team come together by losing to New England.  To hear the interview, just click on this link: WFAN (To hear the interview on WFAN.com, click on the ‘Play’ icon under ‘2-28 David Tyree’).

NOTE: Below the David Tyree interview is an interview with Brandon Jacobs.  I didn’t hear it, but feel free to check it out.

Thursday’s Giants News

February 28, 2008 By: Keith Category: Adrian Awasom, Bill Parcells, David Tyree, Derrick Ward, Gibril Wilson, James Butler, Jared Lorenzen, Jerry Reese, John Mara, Kawika Mitchell, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants, Reggie Torbor, Tom Coughlin No Comments →

Gibril WilsonHopefully you guys are keeping up with all of this Free Agent stuff around the NFL.  Teams are dumping players to get ready for Free Agency which begins at midnight as well as the Draft which is in April.  We aren’t going to cover every team, but there is some intersting things taking place.  I will let you know about the NFC East to an extent, and I will let you know about former Giants.  First, the Eagles supposedly cut Jevon ‘The Freak’ Kearse because he suffered a knee injury in 2006 and didn’t get many minutes in 2007.  Maybe Brian Dawkins will retire soon too…  We’ve heard the rumors that the Dolphins are interested in Reggie TorborBill Parcells is steering that ship, and may be able to sign Torbor as soon as tomorrow.  The Tuna always has something funny to say, and he was quoted as saying that he doesn’t want any “thugs and hoodlums” on his team.  Can he say that?

Giants.com:

Free Agency 101 - Giants.com provided a glossary of NFL Free Agency terms.

Newsday:

Giants GM Reese unlikely to chase free agents - Bob Glauber reminded us that the only Free Agent that the Giants signed last year was Kawika Mitchell, and it seems like Jerry Reese is only interested in DeAngelo Hall this year.  Glauber said that Hall is asking for close to $10 million so Reese might not go after him.  Bob wrote this about the players on the Giants that are about to become unrestricted free agents,

The Giants have only three unrestricted free agents, safety Gibril Wilson and linebackers Reggie Torbor and Mitchell, and they had hoped to keep them from reaching the open market. A person familiar with the Giants’ situation said it was virtually inconceivable that they would retain Wilson, and that it was “doubtful” they would keep Torbor and Mitchell.

That can come back and bite us in the rear if  we lose one safety and two linebackers.  If Mathias Kiwanuka has a healthy return then that will help fill one of these slots.  It seems like Reese is going to fill the holes with rookies if he doesn’t sign Hall.  The defense is what made that amazing run possible.  I hope that there is a smooth transition heading into ‘08.

Bob Glauber’s top 5 FAs - This is the top 5 Free Agents on Bob Glauber’s list, and he included a brief description about each of them in his article.

  • Asante Samuel
  • Randy Moss
  • Alan Faneca
  • Lance Briggs
  • Justin Smith

New York Daily News:

Tom Coughlin to get 4 years, $21M - Gary Myers noted that this is the only thing left in Coach Coughlin’s contract, “There are only minor details and contract language to be completed, and the deal could be announced as early as next week.”

Jerry Reese’s way fine by John Mara - Ralph Vacchiano stated that John Mara is very confident in the way that Reese is assembling the roster.  At the bottom of the article, Vacchiano covered three other points as well:

Safety James Butler, a restricted free agent, got a one-year, second-round qualifying offer of $1.47 million from the Giants, who can match any offer he receives, and would get a second-round pick from any team that signs him.

QB Jared Lorenzen got a one-year, $927,000 tender. The Giants can match any offer he gets, but would get no compensation.

DE Adrian Awasom, who was arrested in Phoenix on “suspicion of extreme DUI” a few days before the Super Bowl, was not tendered and will become an unrestricted free agent tomorrow.

New York Post:

BIG BLUE MAY TURN ‘CORNER’ - Paul Schwartz reported that the Giants may or may not go after Hall because of Hall’s baggage.

New York Times:

Tyree Talks the Talk, and Also Wears the Helmet - Nate Schweber described when ”David Tyree spoke to students from Montclair High at the Yogi Berra Museum Wednesday night.”

The Star-Ledger:

Agent: Gibril to test market

Ward on his way out? - Mike Garafolo reported that it is unlikely that the Giants will resign Derrick WardI’m very upset about that.  Ward was solid, and he was the best receiving RB on the Giants this year.  He added to the depth of the position.

NY Giants in search of a safety net

Coughlin to get $21M contract extension, NY Daily News reports

Giants not confident on Gibril - Mike Garafolo lets us know where the Giants and Gibril Wilson stand right now.  Garafolo also stated that Wilson is looking for $5 million per year, and how the Giants might go about replacing Gibril if he ends up leaving.  In my opinion, the Giants still have 22 hours to resign Wilson.  I believe that Wilson knows deep down that he isn’t worth $5 million per year.  Even if the Giants let him go, would the Jags or the Eagles pay that much?  So maybe he will realize that and stay with Big Blue for a little less.

Butler, Lorenzen tendered

Saturday’s Giants News

February 23, 2008 By: Keith Category: AFC East, Bill Belichick, David Tyree, Miami Dolphins, NFC East, NFL, New England Patriots, New York Giants, Robert Kraft, Tom Coughlin No Comments →

DeAngelo HallToday, the media covered trade rumors, SpyGate, the Combine, and the birth of Tyree’s twin girls.  I wrote how I felt about Hall and Trufant below.  Feel free to comment on each of them.  Do you love them or hate them and let me know why?  I’ve had the opportunity to watch the Giants play the Falcons several times so I know that Hall is the real deal.  I’ve also seen the Falcons play many nationally televised games because they used to get those spots when Vick was on the team.  However, I don’t know anything about Trufant except that he was named to the Pro Bowl which isn’t an indicator of anything.  I questioned his heart in the Divisional Playoffs and based my opinion solely on that.  If you can’t bring it in the Playoffs because it’s snowing then you are missing something.  Seattle is a team that is difficult to grasp.  They don’t lose at home so it’s hard to figure out where they stand.  I picked them to beat the Redskins in Wild Card Weekend because they were home.  I picked them to cover the spread in Green Bay, but I figured that they would lose while giving Green Bay a fight.  There was no fight at all.

Giants.com:

Combine Thoughts - Yesterday, Tom Coughlin met with the media at the NFL Combine to discuss many topics.  Michael Eisen included a short version of Coach Coughlin’s press conference in the article as well as the video of the entire thing.

Newsday:

Eyeing pair of top CBs - Bob Glauber covered the rumors about the NY Giants being interested in Hall and Trufant that we covered yesterday.  I already pointed out that Hall will be traded by the Falcons because his mouth gets him into too much trouble.  DeAngelo Hall said that “he will not return to the team after new general manager Thomas Dimitroff told him the club would consider offers for him.”  Basically, he is being forced out which makes him the defensive equivalent of a Randy Moss, Keyshawn Johnson, or T.O.  Speaking of Keyshawn, did you hear is trying to make a comeback?  Where will he play?  Hall then went on to say he doesn’t want a raise, he just wants to play for a team that wants him.  So who wants him?  It seems like the Giants are interested in him because they offered their first round draft pick for him.  A first round pick for a player this good is a bargain, but you have to deal with his antics.  It’s not as much of a bargain as the Pats getting Moss for a fourth round pick, but it’s pretty good.  I don’t want Hall.  Glauber reported something different about whether Marcus Trufant could be traded, which was “Seattle has designated Trufant as their “franchise” player, meaning Seattle has virtually exclusive negotiating rights with him for the 2008 season. But that does not preclude them from making a trade.”  I don’t care if he can or cannot be traded because I don’t want him.  Go back and watch the Divisional Playoffs between the Seahawks and the Packers.  What did Trufant do in snowy Green Bay?  Nothing…not only nothing, but the entire team stopped playing once it started snowing.  He is not mentally or physically tough enough to be a New York Football Giant.  What kind of Road Warrior gives up in Lambeau Field?  I didn’t see any Giants quit in minus 24 degrees on the frozen tundra.  That is why I don’t want Trufant either.

New York Daily News:

Pat spies evaded Giants - This is the same thing that the New York Post reported yesterday.  Ralph Vacciano also went onto explain the current situation with SpyGateAfter Roger Goodell met with Senator Arlen Spector, Spector didn’t come out of the meeting a happy man.  Vacchiano wrote,

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) told ESPN.com he’s been “stonewalled” by the Jets and Patriots in his efforts to investigate SpyGate. Both organizations have retained outside counsel to handle inquiries with Specter, who met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell last week.

“I think that is somewhere between absurd to insulting that they won’t let us talk to the witnesses,” Specter told ESPN.com. A Jets team spokesman referred all questions to the league.

Here’s some advice for the Commissioner.  Do not piss off Senators or make them feel “stonewalled”.  The Government is bigger than you may realize, and they will come after you.

NFL: Shut SpyGate door - Ralph Vacciano wrote that “The NFL’s powerful Competition Committee voiced strong support Thursday for the way NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has handled SpyGate, and urged everyone - including Congress - to put the episode to rest. The NFL’s powerful Competition Committee voiced strong support Thursday for the way NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has handled SpyGate, and urged everyone - including Congress - to put the episode to rest.”  I agree that the NFL handled the SpyGate situation (meaning Week 1 against the Jets) properly with the exception of a few things.  I don’t believe that the NFL should destroy evidence, I do believe that the game should’ve resulted in an automatic loss, and I believe that the NFL should not be albe to name a cheater the ‘Coach of the Year’.  I believe that was the fair penalty for a one-off incident.  Now, more and more stories are coming out about it being around since Bill Belichick became the Head Coach of the Patriots which has been 8 years.  Here’s the fair punishment for that.  Each Preseason game, Regular Season game, and Postseason game that the Patriots played since 2000, the same fine should apply to Belichick and Bob Kraft.  On top of the fines, the same amount of draft picks should be taken away for each game for those 8 years.  Belichick faked the funk and should be banned from coaching in the NFL and the Hall of Fame because it is clear that he is not the genius we thought he was.  So now the NFL is saying that the penalty inflicted upon the Patriots was substantial enough for all of this and they want it to go away, including Congress.  I disagree with that.  If the Commissioner was able to do his job then Congress wouldn’t have to do it for him.  The same thing is happening in baseball with the steroids.  The NFL and Congress should work together to investigate this issue to the fullest.  Rid the NFL of the scum.  Goodell has no problem making his presence known when it comes to players like Pacman Jones.  The scum may be a player just as Jones clearly is, a coach just as Belichick clearly is, or an owner just as Kraft clearly is.  The Commissioner must understand that and investigate the issues the same way.

New York Post:

COUGHLIN SMILES THROUGH COMBINE - That’s because T.C. just won the Super Bowl.

GIANTLY ‘INNACURATE’ - Greg Aiello, the senior vice president of public relations for the NFL, claimed that the SpyGate story released yesterday by The New York Times is “inaccurate”, and Paul Schwartz covered this story.

New York Times:

Coughlin’s Success Changes Opinions

The Star-Ledger:

Giants not alone in hunt for Hall - According to Mike Garafolo, the rumors of teams interested in DeAngelo include the Redskins, the Bucs, the Dolphins, and the Cowboys.  I hope he ends up in the AFC.  Garafolo pointed out that the Giants might be forced to add more to the trade if all of this demand truly exists.

Coughlin is still glowing

N.Y. builder to buy half of Dolphins - Mike Garafolo reported that “New York builder Stephen Ross agreed to buy half the Miami Dolphins from owner Wayne Huizenga, with an opportunity to become managing general partner. Ross would acquire 50 percent of the franchise, Dolphin Stadium and surrounding developable land, the team said yesterday. The NFL must approve the sale.”  Am I the only one that feels like I’m missing information here?  Are they staying in Miami?  Are they building a new stadium in Miami or elsewhere?

Tyree a SB hero … and a proud papa - Mike Garafolo noted that “Tyree’s wife, Leilah, gave birth to Sophia (4 lbs., 14 oz., 18¾ inches) and Hannah (5 lbs., 3 oz., 19 inches). Both baby girls and Leilah are doing well, said Tyree’s agents, Michael and Mark Clouser.”  Die Hard Giants Fan would like to congratulate David Tyree and his wife Leilah on their new twin girls.

Trades must wait a week - Mike Garafolo pointed out that the G-MEN cannot trade for Hall of anybody else until next Friday because “The 2008 league year doesn’t begin until that day — Feb. 29. That’s when free agency starts and it’s also when the trade blackout period, which began with the Oct. 16 trade deadline, will be lifted.”

D-Hall on the Giants - Mike Garafolo lets you know what Hall thinks of the Giants and a whole lot more.

Wednesday’s Giants News

February 13, 2008 By: Keith Category: David Tyree, Jeff Feagles, NFC, NFC East, New York Giants Comments Off

Today was a big baseball day, not a big football day.  The steroids hearings took place in Washington, DC which was the major story.  I enjoyed watching every minute of it.  SpyGate was a smaller story being investigated in DC.  It was fun watching it while it lasted.

The NY news continued to write about David Tyree and Jeff Feagles which were stories that were written about yesterday.

Giants.com:

Talk of the Town - Michael Eisen discusses how David Tyree grabbed national headlines with improbable catch in SBXLII.
