ESPN made another video about A Journey for 9/11. George Martin talks to George Smith of ESPN about his walk to raise money for 9/11 rescue workers.
Yesterday, ESPN made a video that we posted about George Martin finishing his cross-country trek for A Journey for 9/11. Now the media offered their thoughts on the story. Martin ”went through 24 pairs of shoes and lost 40 pounds” and ended up raising $2 million along the way for sick 9/11 rescue workers. Giants.com captured his thoughts…
I feel like a million bucks. Other than a blister that I have on my left foot, I’m in great shape. What they did on that day, I could never do in a million years. These heroes need our collective support. Many who answered our nation’s call for help now cannot even walk up the steps in their own homes due to severe respiratory and other ailments. Some are dying. They deserve our help. While this has been a difficult undertaking, it has also been wonderful to see our nation on foot while raising awareness about the plight of these 9/11 workers.

What George Martin just achieved shows us that he is an American Hero. He raised $2 million for other heroes that got sick during 9/11 rescue efforts. This is a really great story, and there are others like this every day that don’t get the publicity that George Martin has gotten. All of the actions made by people like this should be commended. We are lucky that we had guys like Martin playing for the Giants, and we would be better off now if we had guys like him on the team.

Megan King at NFL.com put together a piece on George Martin who is still walking across the country for A Journey for 9/11. Rather than just letting us know where he is, King explained how it all came to be. There’s also some really cool pictures of his journey to check out.
Rookies Tour Hall of Fame - John Schmeelk let us know that 19 Giants rookies were given a chance to avoid falling victim to that credo when they visited the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio earlier this week. The group, led by Director of Player Development Charles Way, took a tour of the facility conducted by Hall of Famer Michael Haynes. The trip was part of a new NFL program, in which the rookie class from every NFL team, including the undrafted free agents, visited Canton, Ohio and were given a tour of the facility by a Hall of Famer.
Eisen’s Insight (Video) - Mike Eisen discusses the current status of the New York Football Giants.
Megan King at NFL.com provided an update on George Martin’s A Journey for 9/11. We already knew that Martin has been walking from New York to San Diego since September. King wrote, “As of Thursday, on the eve of Memorial Day weekend, he’s 2,684 miles into his journey and with nearly $2 million in his coffers so far, firefighters as well as policemen and women from across the state of Arizona gathered at the Hall of Flame Fire Museum in Phoenix to say thank you.” Wow, he’s almost at the end now. What an accomplishment. He’s going to be walking across the desert states from now on. That must be extremely hot. Poor guy.

Die Hard Giants Fan would like to wish all of you a Happy Memorial Day!
George Martin is one of the classiest people to ever put on a Giants uniform. He is walking across the country to raise money for those who suffered in the 9/11 attacks. Martin began walking in September 2007, and was about halfway across the country during the Super Bowl. We already know that Martin has been doing this, but I would like to say I’m proud of my boys in blue for donating to ”a Journey for 9/11“. NFL defenses will be armed with radio helmets starting next season - Ralph Vacchiano and Gary Meyers wrote that, “The Giants and Jets were among teams voting Tuesday to approve radio helmets for the defensive signal caller to receive the plays from the sideline, bringing it equality with the coach-to-quarterback system used since 1994 and eliminating any chance of SpyGate II.”
Jerry Reese expects to see Michael Strahan in Giants’ camp - According to Gary Meyers, Jerry Reese stated this about Michael Strahan’s retirement situation, “We haven’t had any conversation right now. We’ll sit down and he’ll let me know if he wants to play or not. My gut feeling is I think he will play another year. That’s just my gut feeling. That may be out in left field somewhere.”
