Week 13 PostGame: Bills 3 - 49ers 10

November 30, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: 49ers, AFC East, Buffalo Bills, J.P. Losman, Josh Reed, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFC West, NFL, Niners, Trent Edwards No Comments →

The Buffalo Bills played terrible in front of their home fans when the team needed a win most, dropping to the San Francisco 49ers, 10-3.

1st Quarter

On the first drive on the day, the 49ers gamed the ball down the Bills throat. Whether it was running or passing, they moved the ball down the field in ease. A 14 play, 72 yard drive would end with a touchdown as QB Shaun Hill hooked up with veteran Issac Bruce on a 12 yard pass to put the road team up 7-0.

Later in the quarter the Bills tried to counter but they were kept out of the end zone. With a 20 yard field goal attempt, kicker Rian Lindell entered the game to make a kick less than a extra point. He clinked it off the right left upright though, so 49ers still in the lead, 7-0.

2nd Quarter

49ers kicker Joe Nedney made Lindell look like a high school kicker as he blasted a 50 yard field goal up and good to give the 49ers a 10 point lead.

Going into the tunnel at halftime, San Fran leads 10-0.

3rd Quarter

Lindell was able to make a 22 yard field goal in the 3rd to get the Bills back into a one score game, 10-3.

4th Quarter

No scoring occurred in this quarter despite the numerous chances the Bills had. The defense came to play, stopping the Niners when it mattered most. However, with backup JP Losman in the game, the Bills couldn’t put the ball into the end zone.

Wrap Up

· Trent Edwards left the game at halftime after playing a terrible game. He went 10 of 21 passing for 112 yards. Backup Losman went 11 for 17 for 93 yards. Neither QB threw a touchdown or interception.

· Marshawn Lynch only carries the ball 16 times but made the most of it, gaining 134 yards on the ground.

· Lee Evans caught 7 passes for 80 yards to lead the Bills in receiving. Josh Reed had a solid game, hauling in 5 passes for 58 yards.

· Rian Lindell has looked very shaky since his Monday night wide right miss. He went 1 for 3 on FG attempts this game. Thank goodness he didn’t have to try a PAT.

· Defense ends have been bashed the entire season for the Bills but they stepped it up today. Chris Kelsay had 5 tackles (2 assists) and 1 sack while Ryan Denney had 2 sacks, a forced fumble and 4 tackles.

· It was the first win for a west coast team coming to the east. Previous team were 0-14 (Bills themselves were 3-0).

Week 12 PostGame: Bills 54 - Chiefs 31

November 23, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: AFC East, Buffalo Bills, Chiefs, Josh Reed, Kansas City, Lee Evans, Leodis McKelvin, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Rian Lindell, Trent Edwards No Comments →

The Buffalo Bills needed a victory to fight for their playoffs lives and they got it, hammering the Kansas City Chiefs 54-31 at Arrowhead Stadium.

1st Quarter

Well this game started off with fireworks and it looked like these teams would go back and forth all afternoon putting up points.

The Chiefs started off the game with a touchdown on their opening drive to take the 7-0 lead on a 36 yard TD pass from Tyler Thigpen to Jamaal Charles.  The Bills would be able to match it on their first drive of the game.  On 4th and Goal from the 1, Buffalo went for it and it paid off.  Marshawn Lynch ended the drive with a TD run, the extra point was good at it was a tied game again.

The score is tied 7-7 heading into the 2nd quarter.

2nd Quarter

33 points were put up in this quarter, although 23 of them went to one team.

Bills kicker Rian Lindell made a 21 yard field goal to give Buffalo a 10-7 lead.  It wouldn’t last long though as Kansas City was able to answer the points right back.  After a huge Larry Johnson run, Thigpen threw his second TD of the game on a play action pass.  The Bills defense fell for the fake and left Tony Gonzalez wide open in the endzone.  Chiefs now up again, 14-10.

Rian Lindell would add another FG in this game to cut the lead to one on a 39 yard attempt.

On the very next series for Kansas City, Thigpen’s pass was picked off by rookie CB Leodis Mckelvin.  Mckelvin took it down the sidelines, showing off his great speed, and tip toeing down the sideline before he dived into the end zone for 6.  The Chiefs then added a 45 yard FG by kicker Connor Barth to keep the game close, 20-17.

Lindell would add another field goal and QB Trent Edwards would scramble 15 yards and dived into the endzone for a touchdown to put the Bills up huge by the half.

Going into the tunnel, Buffalo leads 30-17.

3rd Quarter

Edwards would run for another TD, this one being a little bit closer though as he only had to go 5 yards.  Lindell then added another field goal before Kansas City got on the board again.  Thigpen would hook up with Mark Bradley for a 45 yard TD pass.

It looked like the Chiefs had a little bit of life but Trent Edwards led another great drive and threw an 8 yard TD pass to Josh Reed.  Going into the 4th, Bills up a bunch, 47-24.

4th Quarter

Each team put another TD on the board.  Buffalo’s came first on a 17 yard pass from Edwards to TE Derek Schouman.  Kansas City would put one more up too on a 3 yard pass from Quinn Gray to Dwayne Bowe in garbage time.

Bills win this one, 54-31.

Wrap Up

  • QB Trent Edwards improved his game this week.  He went 24 of 32 for 273 yards and 2 TDs (0 INTs).  Edwards also ran the ball 6 times for 38 yards and 2 more TDs.
  • Marshawn Lynch had another strong game on the ground.  On 20 carries, Lynch had 79 yards and a touchdown.  He also had 5 catches for 25 yards.

  • Josh Reed in his first game back from injury, also caught 5 passes, for 50 yards and 1 TD.
  • After missing the go ahead kick last week, Rian Lindell went 4 for 4 today on FG chances.

Bills Back at the Bottom of AFC East

November 13, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: AFC East, Buffalo Bills, Fred Jackson, Marshawn Lynch, NFL No Comments →

The Buffalo Bills are now officially (like I feared a week ago) the worst team in the AFC East.  Now they face an uphill climb that will be changeling to overcome.

These next few days, I am going to take a look at what the Bills need to do in order to improve this season after falling to 5-4, after a 4-0 start.  From the running game to the quarterback play to the lack of defensive pressure I will take a look at it as the Bills prepare to do battle against the Browns on Monday Night Football this week.

I have been able to take a few days to process what happened in the game against the New England Patriots (if I wrote a post right after the game, I have a feeling I would’ve called for an entire new roster and fire everyone in a coaching position, so I like to take some time to gather myself and take a look at this realistically.  Bills fans, you know what I am talking about.) and will now be able to go over a few things without busting my computer screen in frustration.

First things first, the run game.

Now I am not a NFL head coach as you have probably guessed and I will be honest, I am nowhere near qualified enough to coach even the offensive line of a pop Warner team.  I do know how ever that an offensive line runs zone blocking, or numbers defenders (1, 2, 3…).  So to better educate myself on the Bills o-line and their blocking style, I headed over to Youtube!

Well maybe Youtube isn’t the most sophisticated way to look at film but with a budget of zero dollars and zero cents it comes in handy.

What I noticed is it looks like the Bills do not run a zone blocking scheme.  I know they do on some plays because I have heard people on TV broadcasters to radio shows say so, but they do not do it very often.  From the big plays that I noticed, the Bills did not run a zone blocking scheme in any of them.

It looked like they number guys at the line and just fired off the line (to explain this simply, pretty much an “I got this guy” thing).  In the highlights from last season, the o-line also looked like they got down the field to make more blocks.  This year, not so much.  The line looks slow and sluggish which isn’t good for the running backs as they have both struggled this season.

Some of the blame should be put on Marshawn Lynch of course, but in the film room, I mean my computer (sorry as I try to make myself sound professional), I have noticed a huge difference between the o-line’s play from last season, and this one and it is showing in the statistics.

Through 9 games, Lynch has 512 yards, 3.5 yards per carry and 6 touchdowns.  Lynch has also not scored a touchdown in the last two games and is averaging 48.3 yards rushing in his last 4.

His backup, Fred Jackson is not faring much better.  He has 237 yards on the year, averages 4 yards a pop and has 1 touchdown.  As a team, the Bills are ranked 28th in the league with 90 yards a game.

The coaches have to work this week on the running game.  They have to get the line on the same page and get this thing turned around.  The Bills have the heaviest offensive line in the league, and they should be able to dominate on the line of scrimmage.  Let’s see if they can this week against a Cleveland Browns defense that allows 145.2 yards a game (26th in the league).

If you didn’t believe it already, an offensive line can make a running back, not the other way around.  So far that has been the case this season.

Check back tomorrow as I hit the “film room” again and explain why Trent Edwards is struggling all of a sudden after such a hot start.  For any suggestions, comments or anything else, I can be reached in the comments or by sending an email to  <a href="mailto:buffbillsfan517@yahoo.com.

Week 10 PostGame: Bills 10 - Patriots 20

November 09, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: AFC East, Buffalo Bills, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, Matt Cassell, NFL, New England Patriots, Trent Edwards No Comments →

The Bills didn’t even looked like they showed up to play football today, falling in an embarrassing matter, 20-10 to the New England Patriots.

1st Quarter

The Bills came out flat while the Patriots went with a slow and steady offense.

New England’s patience was rewarded though after Matt Cassel scampered 13 yards for a touchdown.

The Bills could get nothing going and were unable to put points on the board.  Pats lead 7-0 going into the 2nd.

2nd Quarter

The Patriots patience worked again after a slow and steady drive.  They didn’t try to do too much and settled for a Stephen Gostkowski 32 yard field goal to go up 10-0.

The Bills countered and were finally able to get on the board with a 25 yard field goal by Rian Lindell.

Going into the tunnel at halftime, the Bills were down 10-3.

3rd Quarter

The 3rd was just like the first two quarters of play.  Both teams didn’t show much offensively but their defenses were holding up nicely.  The only scoring of the 3rd was another Gostkowski field goal to put the Pats up 13-3.

4th Quarter

The Patriots felt like they had the game, and showed it after chewing up almost 10 minutes of clock time in the 4th.  At the end of the 19 play drive, BenJarvus Green-Ellis cashed in with a 1 yard run, putting the Pats up 20-3.

Towards the end of a game already decided, Buffalo put one in the endzone on a 14 yard pass from QB Trent Edwards to WR James Hardy.

Buffalo drops the third game in a row, 20-10.

Wrap Up

Trent Edwards went 13 for 23, 120 yards and 1 TD to go along with 2 INTs.

Marshawn Lynch had another terrible game, gaining 46 yards on 14 carries.

Roscoe Parrish led the team in catches.  He had 4 for 31 yards.  Lee Evans was held to only 2 receptions.

Rian Lindell went 1/1 on field goal attempts.

Ryan Denney led the team with 8 tackles.

Are the Bills the Worst Team in the AFC East?

November 03, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: AFC East, Buffalo Bills, J.P. Losman, Jabari Greer, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, Miami Dolphins, NFL, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Trent Edwards No Comments →

The Buffalo Bills had pretty high expectation coming into this season this year as their fans were excited about the young team the Bills assembled.  Then the Bills started off the year 4-0 and gave Bills fans even higher one.  It was being talked on local shows how the Bills might even be reach the Superbowl as they were the top AFC East team and one of the tops in the entire AFC.  After a 1-3 stretch, and two straight losses in the division, I am starting to wonder if the Bills are indeed the weakest link in the AFC East.

Now I know it is only two games, and the Bills are still sitting at a very nice record of 5-3 (which is 7th in the AFC which is one spot out of a wildcard berth and tied for 1st in the AFC East) but losses to the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins have raised some eyebrows.

The Bills have played terrible football in the last two weeks.  For starters the running game is no where to be seen.  Marshawn Lynch carried the ball 9 times yesterday for 16 yards.  16 yards!  Are you kidding me?  This guy is a 1st round draft pick and in his 2nd year in the pros, he has yet to go past 100 yards this season on the ground.  The running back suffered from some kind of illness for most of the game yesterday.  Hopefully he doesn’t take a look at his performance, because that will make him sick all over again.  It certainly has made me.

The offensive line is horrible and it has been for the entire season.  Pro bowl LT Jason Peters is not going to get that big money extension that he held out for and missed the 1st game of the regular season with, like he wants.  He is letting guys go right by him.  The rest of the line is very mediocre also.  They block for running backs that get an average of 93.8 yards a game which is good for 26th best in the league.  Not only can they not run block but they can’t pass block either.  They allowed 5 sacks yesterday with some very nice “look out” blocks.

I didn’t know that J.P. Losman was playing in the game against the Jets?  Hmm, let’s take a look how he did… O wait…  Trent Edwards has played very poorly the last two weeks and the offense has sputtered.  In his defense he doesn’t have a real threat at the WR position other than Lee Evans, the running game is awful and he is getting pressured like crazy, but 3 turnovers in this one?  An absolute ugly interception that went for a pick 6 was thrown that ended a promising Bills drive.  Sure you can play the pressure and Roscoe Parrish for slipping but as a QB you don’t throw that ball into double coverage.  It didn’t even look like Edwards looked at Roscoe, just threw it where he thought he would be.  Edwards needs to step up his game too if he wants to led the Bills to the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade.

With many of these problems being with the offense, the defense has also lacked in one big part of the game, stopping the opponent’s offense when it is needed.  Now don’t get me wrong the pick six by Jabri Greer was a great play that brought the Bills back into the game but the Bills had to come out and get the ball back.  Instead the Jets went right down the field, taking 8 minutes off of the clock and adding another field goal to put the game away.  A playoff caliber defense needs to step up and make that stop.

The Bills started off the year so great, 4-0 and then 5-1.  They had the entire city of Buffalo behind them, cheering them on every week.  Even if it meant going to a friends house, crowded bar or dusting off the rabbit ears to catch the Bills game with grainy reception.  The game next week against the New England Patriots on the road is a must win for this Bills team.  They cannot go 0-3 in this division because teams will pass them by.  How can they accomplish a win?  For starters the team needs to get healthy and play like they did early in the season.  When the Bills had the good record to start off the season, they were playing great on all three aspects of the game.  Their offense was clicking, defense was solid and their special teams unit was game changing.  Now nothing is working on all sides of the ball.  They have to get back to basics and go with what worked early in the season.  Holding onto the football and establishing a rushing game is a must.  They have already lost to the Jets and Dolphins.  A loss to the Pats this week, by default, would make the Bills the worst team in the AFC East.

Week 9 PostGame: Jets 26 - Bills 17

November 02, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: AFC East, Buffalo Bills, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, New York Jets No Comments →

The Bills didn’t deserve to win this game at all and they didn’t, dropping to the New York Jets 26-17 at home.

1st Quarter

Twenty points were scored in total in the 1st.  The scoring started with a Jets field goal by Jay Feely on the opening drive.  The Bills countered with a TD pass from Trent Edwards to rookie Derek Fine to make the score 7-3.  Jay Feely then added another FG.  On the Bills drive headed towards more Bills points, Edwards was intercepted by Abram Elam and he took it 90 yards the other way for a pick 6.  Jets lead 13-7.

2nd Quarter

No scoring happened in this quarter as the two teams went back and forth.  Going into the tunnel at halftime the Bills were still down 13-7.

3rd Quarter

Jay Feely added another FG in this one.  It was countered with a Rian Lindell FG later in the quarter.  Running back Thomas Jones then scored a 7 yard TD run to put the Jets up 23-10 heading into the 4th.

4th Quarter

Bills corner Jabari Greer made the game interesting, having a pick 6 of his own and making the score 23-17.  Jay Feely kicked another successful FG though and the game was sealed with Edwards throwing an INT in the end zone with under 2 minutes remaining, Jets win 26-17.

Wrap Up

The Jets’ offensive line did not allow a sack on Brett Favre. Their defense sacked Trent Edwards five times, two from DT Kris Jenkins.

The Jets snapped a three-game losing streak vs. the Bills.

The win was Favre’s first in Ralph Wilson Stadium.

Favre did not throw a touchdown for the second time in three weeks.

The Bills lost at home for the first time this season.

The Bills failed to score a rushing touchdown for the first time this season.

Bills RB Marshawn Lynch, suffering from flu-like symptoms, managed just 16 yards on nine carries. Lynch did have 52 yards through the air, including a 42-yard reception on Buffalo’s first play from scrimmage.

Trent Edwards went 24 for 35 with 289 yards (career high), 1 TD and 2 INTs.

Marshawn Lynch had 9 attempts for 16 yards while Fred Jackson had 7 for 15.

Paul Poz led the defense in tackles with 9.

Lynch Not at Pratice

October 29, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: Buffalo Bills, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, WGR550, WGR550.com No Comments →

Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch was not at pratice today.  For news on him and the rest of the Bills squad today, we will take a look at WGR550.com:

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  — Bills RB Marshawn Lynch was missing from practice as the Bills begin preparations for the Jets. Dick Jauron says he was excused and expects him back tomorrow. WR Josh Reed stuck his head out of the training room door, but went back in. He had a protective boot on. G Brad Butler was watching. Aaron Schobel took a few reps with a trainer, then took his helmet off and put on a baseball cap. Schobel told me that he feels, better but not good enough. He hopes he can play Sunday, but he wasn’t overly optimistic. Jauron said with all three, they’re getting better and as they move through the week, they’ll take more of a look at them. Trent Edwards was limping after practice, but he took all his reps. Jauron says he came in for treatment Monday and Tuesday for a sore ankle. He added, “I think he’ll be fine.” John Wendling left practice today with an ankle problem.

It appears Duke Preston is the new starter at center although Jauron did not confirm that. Preston told me he got all first team reps today. He said, “It might be where it’s going” as far as him being the starter. Jauron said it’s an injury thing to Melvin Fowler, but he was going to get Preston first team reps even before Fowler’s injury. He said we’ll see after Fowler is 100-percent healthy. Fowler did play the second half in Miami and practiced fully today.

The GOOD…

October 28, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: AFC East, Brian Moorman, Buffalo Bills, Dick Jauron, Fred Jackson, Langston Walker, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, Miami Dolphins, NFL, Ricky Williams, Ronnie Brown No Comments →

Well after a few days to process the game (and some time to vent), I will now rationally express some of my thoughts (the good, the bad, and the ugly) that came from the Buffalo Bills 25-16 loss to AFC East rival Miami Dolphins.  Today we will take a look on the bright side of the game by looking at the good things that happened for the Bills (tomorrow will come the more upsetting side, when we take a look at the bad and the ugly).

Big special teams play from Langston Walker.  The monstrous 6’ 8”, 366 pound offensive tackle broke through the Dolphins special teams line, and blocked a field goal early in the game.  The block came early in the 1st half on a 46 yard attempt by ‘fins kicker Dan Carpenter.  The game was still very close and the block was a huge momentum changer.

Lee Evans continued his dominance catching the ball and had himself a very strong game against the Dolphins secondary.  Evans had 7 receptions for 116 yards.  Looks like the new 4 year, $37.25 million contract isn’t making the wide receiver lazy at all.  The guy is a great football player who leaves it all out on the field each week and his performance has showed it.  Evans has now topped 80 yards in four straight games and hasn’t been held under 65 yards all season.

The Bills top ranked run defense was on top of its game again.  The Bills must have looked at my advice on how to stop the “wildcat” offense, or they just listened to their coaches.  Either way it is fine with me seeing as the Bills only let up only 59 yards on the ground to running backs Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams (in total the Dolphins only had 56 yards rushing).  That is not exactly an esay task seeing as the two have averaged a combined total of over 100 yards a game (103.3 yard average through the first half of the season).

The Bills running backs played well themselves.  Running backs Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson combined for 102 yards on 23 attempts (good for 4.4 yards a carry).  Not only was there performance as a duo strong on the ground but they also produced through the air.  Lynch caught 5 passes for 34 yards showing that the Bills will try to get their back involved in the passing game also (NOTE: Personally I don’t think that the Bills are using their feature back, Lynch, the right way but that will come more in depth in tomorrows article).

The punter and kicker of the Bills squad also did their part in this one.  Kicker Rian Lindell went 3 for 3 on his field goal attempts (1-1 on extra points) while punter Brian Moorman had 3 punts that went for an average of 40.7 yards.  Both of these players are consistent for the Bills week in and week out so I didn’t expect that to change this week.

Head Coach Dick Jauron got a contract extension.  I will get more into him and his staff tomorrow but the Bills locked up their man for 3 more years.  It has not yet been confirmed yet by Jauron or the Bills, but it is being reported by multiple sources that it has indeed happened.

How does tied for 1st place sound?  Not sure about some people but it sure sounds pretty good to me.  Even with the loss in the division, the Bills are still tied for 1st place in the AFC East.  That can easily change for the better (or the worse) as the Bills next two opponents are division foes.  Not time to panic yet Buffalo!

Bills Should Go After TE

October 11, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: AFC East, AFC West, Buffalo Bills, Chiefs, Derek Fine, James Hardy, Kansas City, Lee Evans, Marshawn Lynch, NFL, Robert Royal, Roscoe Parrish, Tony Gonzalez, Trent Edwards No Comments →

It is being reported by multiple sources that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez is being shopped around in the NFL trade market.  The Chiefs are talking to multiple teams about their star tight end, although no one team has been mentioned yet.

My question is why don’t the Buffalo Bills try to take a run at him?  So I am here to list my reasons why they should.

1. They have the Cap Room

Tony Gonzalez does come over with a pretty nice contract (in the Bills eyes).  He did sign a five year, $35 million deal back in 2006 but $17.75 million of that is guaranteed.  The rest of Gonzalez’s contract calls for him to make $1 million in 2008, $4 million in 2009, $4.5 million in 2010 and $5.75 million in 2011.

Now the number isn’t exact, but the Bills have about $20 million in cap space that they can still work with.  The Bills have plenty of room to add Gonzalez’s contract.

2.  The Bills Need a Good Tight End

Sorry Robert Royal but you just aren’t getting the job done.  You are a very mediocre tight end that really shouldn’t be starting in the NFL.  You are a good run blocker but are not really a threat in the passing game which is a shame for your QB.

Trent Edwards loves throwing to the guys underneath, like his running backs and tight ends but he doesn’t really have a tight end to throw to.  The 6 foot 5, 251 pound Gonzalez would give Edwards a huge target to throw to and also another red zone target.  Let’s be honest the Bills need another target on offense.  Marshawn Lynch is in a little bit of a slump, and Lee Evans is still drawing double teams with the Bills lack of a true #2 wide receiver (Josh Reed is more of a slot guy, rookie James Hardy still is learning the game, and Roscoe Parrish is out for the next few weeks due to a thumb injury).

3. The Bills have been looking for a Good TE

Not sure if any of you guys out their remember it or not, but the Bills were taking a hard look at now Tennessee Titans TE Alge Crumpler during the off season but were unable to sign him.  They then went after guys like Courtney Anderson and Tim Massaquoi and even drafted Derek Fine in the NFL Draft this year (Anderson and Massaquoi were cut, and Fine has not been activated yet because of a thumb injury).

They know they need a tight end and hopefully they are still looking for one right now.

4.  Sure Tony is Getting Older, but He is Still an Elite TE

Sure people take a look at his number this year, 21 receptions for 193 yards and 2 TDs, and say the 32 year old is done but that is mostly because he is on such a bad team and hasn’t had one QB throwing to him this season.  The Chiefs are just throwing random QBs in there each week and Tony’s numbers are really hurting because of it.

Remember this is a guy coming off a great 2007 campaign when he caught 99 passes for 1172 yards and 5 touchdowns.

He is just off to a slow start and has plenty left in the tank to be elite in the next few years.

5. The Bills Could Use a Vet

The Bills are a young team just learning how to win games in this league.  Why not bring in a 12 year vet that has been there before?  The Bills oldest player on the offense is 30 year old Robert Royal who never been on a playoff team.

The Bills could really use a smart veteran like Gonzalez that would not only open up the offense more, but also provide some leadership to the young guys in the locker room.

6.  He is a High Character Guy

The Bills love their players to be character guys, who are not only good at football but also stay out of trouble.  Gonzalez is very active in charitable organizations like the Tony Gonzalez Foundation, the United Way, and the Boys and Girls club just to name a few.

Not only is he a great player, but a great person too. This is a guy that the Bills organization would love to have.

7.  All of This Could Be Yours for a Draft Pick

It is being reported that all the Chiefs are looking for is a decent draft pick (or picks) in exchange for their star TE.  Earlier in the off-season, Saints TE Jeremy Shockey was traded for a 2nd round and 5th round pick, something the Bills could easily muster up (also keep in mind that Shockey is four years younger at the age of 28).  The Bills already have their young, core players on the squad.  This season they can afford to give up a couple picks to better themselves for the next few years with a star TE in their offense.

Gonzalez is still an elite tight end who currently holds the NFL tight end record for receptions, touchdown catches and yards receiving.  He has also gone to 9 pro bowls in his career and could still make the trip for a few more.  I would love to see the Bills go after him in an attempt to make a run for the playoffs, something the team hasn’t done for over a decade.

Don’t agree at all?  Think I am nuts?  Want the Bills to try to get this guy today?  Please write your reactions in the comment box below or send over an email to buffbillsfan517@yahoo.com.  Your feedback is gr
