Jets, Giants Stadium Naming Rights Talks With Allianz Have Severed

September 13, 2008 By: Keith Category: AFC East, Allianz, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants, New York Jets No Comments →

During the week, I have heard that the Jets and the Giants were in talks with a company named Allianz for the naming rights of the New Meadowlands Stadium. Allianz is a German insurance company who allegedly has Nazi ties. There has been an uproar from New Yorkers during the week which ultimately severed the talks between the parties, according to the New York Daily News.

The New York Daily News noted that, “The German company insured Adolf Hitler’s engineers at the Auschwitz death camp, had a chief executive in his cabinet and allegedly refused to pay off life insurance policies to Jews during the Holocaust.” Due to this, they also pointed out that, “Football fans and Jewish groups had responded with fury when they learned Allianz was on the short list of companies offering to pay up to $30 million to have their name on the new field.”

The good news for New Yorkers is that the talks have come to an end. It’s a shame that the Jets and Giants were even in discussions with Allianz, but I’m not certain that they were aware of the issue until the media revealed that Allianz had a checkered past. I’m always surprised when people do the research to find out who these companies dealt with 60 years ago or 300 years ago. I don’t even know how you can verify some of these allegations, and I’m not just talking about this incident. I here the same type of things when politicians accept donations from companies as well. Personally, I dislike these corporate names on stadiums in general.

BREAKING NEWS: BRADY DONE FOR THE YEAR

September 07, 2008 By: BuffBillsFan Category: AFC East, Chris Simms, NFL, New England Patriots, New York Jets, Tom Brady No Comments →

It is being reported by multiple sports websites that New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is done for the year. He injuried his knee in todays game against the Kansas City Cheifs and sources have come out and said the injury is very serious. Brady will be sidelined for the year with a torn ACL. This is the Patriots worse nightmare. They will now be forced to go with Matt Cassel or find someone else. It is also being reported that free agent Chris Simms will work out for the team on Monday. As much as I hate to root for someone to get hurt, this opens up the entire AFC East. Brady is that team and really makes them pretty much unstoppable. This really opens up the divison to the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, who both won today. All of the defensive coaches that have to face the Pats are breathing a little easier after receving this news tonight. Now they can focus on containing Randy Moss and Wes Welker, and also stopping the Pats running game which is still no easy task.

Preseason Week 3 Pregame: Giants - Jets

August 23, 2008 By: Keith Category: AFC East, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants, New York Jets No Comments →

The New York Jets will be hosting the New York Giants at 7:00 p.m. at Giants Stadium. The game will be aired on WCBS.

The annual Preseason battle of New York takes place tonight. Gang Green spent a ton this offseason to bring in a lot of talent, and then they just traded for Brett Favre as you all know. The Jets have ruled the airwaves since Favre came to NY, but hopefully the Giants will rule NY once the game is over. Now it’s Week 3, and the starters should play the first half. Eli was on fire last week so let’s hope that he can do it again for an entire half. After tonight, there’s only one more week of Preseason before Kickoff Weekend. Again, Preseason means absolutely nothing except for the fact that we get to check out the backups and the rookies. The Giants don’t have to play the Jets in the regular season this year, but I’m looking forward to checking out their talent as well as ours.

PS - Remember this…they went 0-4 when they went to the Super Bowl in 2000, and they were 1-3 in 2007 when they won the Super Bowl. However, the Giants went 4-0 in 2006. Then Giants finished ‘06 with an 8-8 record, and lost to the Eagles in the Wild Card Round.

Jets and Giants PSL Owners May Get Perks

August 03, 2008 By: Keith Category: AFC East, John Mara, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants, New York Jets, Steve Tisch, Woody Johnson No Comments →

As soon as John Mara and Steve Tisch sent out the original letter regarding PSLs to the season ticket holders, it has become the biggest story about the Giants of the summer. I’ve checked our site’s stats, and the posts about PSLs have gotten plenty of traffic. Also, those posts have had a few comments attached to each post. The feedback from Giants fans has been very bitter and deservedly so. We went on to bash the organization for wanting to implement PSLs in two posts. Then we wrote a post about the upside to PSLs, which was based on articles that we’ve come across.

The Jets keep postponing the date when they plan on informing their season ticket holders about the PSL pricing plan. However, Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News reported that Woody Johnson said the pricing plan may include a system for Jets and Giants PSL owners to “alternate events as they come along during the year - concerts, a tractor pull, whatever we have.” Johnson is clearly doing this to try to diminish the amount of heat he is going to receive when he sends the letter to the Jets’ season ticket holders. The thing that caught my attention is that Woody mentioned that this would possibly be offered to ‘Jets and Giants PSL owners’. The Giants never mentioned this before, but I’m sure that Johnson, Mara, and Tisch are all on the same page because they are sharing the stadium. This small benefit must have been a topic of discussion which is why he mentioned it. However, the article stated that “The Giants had no comment on how non-football events will be handled.”  I guess we’ll have to wait and see how the Giants will handle it…if they even do.

Jets look To Win Games The Honest Way

June 30, 2008 By: Jeties3737 Category: AFC East, NFL, New York Jets No Comments →

The Pious Patriots and their self righteous ways have tainted their franchise.

When Coach Belichek was confronted with cheating, he simply used the old “everybody else has down it” card.

William Belichek had used an excuse that all of us have submitted in life, especially in Elementary School. Of course he is wrong.

It does not matter if 14 other teams cheated, your Patriot franchise was caught.

It reminds me of when I was seven and stole crayons from another classmate, I used the “everybody else steals crayons cards” on my Teacher.

 Shockingly the excuse was rejected.

My recess and nap time privleges had been revoked for my crime. My Bert and Ernie sticker that was on my desk was also confiscated.

I should have known better, I had my suscription to Highlights Magazine.  I knew what the standard was. I knew about Goofus and Gallant.

I knew I had Goofus tendancies, I knew I had to be careful. But I gave in. Now I had ventured in to Goofus’s circle of degeneracy.  It was a devasting day.

I payed the pentalty. Belichek’s Boys have not. Their integrity has vanished.  The man on the Patriots logo reminds me of Goofus.

The only justice  was The New York Football Giants defeating a team with a perfect record.  This past Super Bowl was the greatest ever.

I was not alive when the Jets defeated the Colts. My DNA was not released.

The Giants smased the Pious Patriots ego’s forever. That win by the Giants, was the beginning of the end for the Patriots franchise.

No more Titles will come out of the New England area, unless it is from a Baseball or Basketball team or a Little League team. Maybe a Bingo Parlor.

Things are looking up for the Jets Football. It is safe to say, that Jet fans know their team has never been dis honest, their past records are proof.

Strahan: Jeremy Shockey Wants Out

June 25, 2008 By: Keith Category: AFC East, Jeremy Shockey, NFC East, NFL, New York Giants, New York Jets No Comments →

It only took until Fox introduced Michael Strahan as the newest member of “NFL Sunday” during a Press Conference yesterday for Strahan to confirm that Jeremy Shockey wants out of New York, according to NewsdayMichael didn’t even wait until the season begins.  Here’s what Strahan had to say about Shockey…

He doesn’t want to play here; that’s obvious with everything that’s going on.

I don’t think you gain much by keeping a guy around. Regardless of how well he plays for you, there’s always that tension, and that’s one thing you can’t have if you’re expected to go back and repeat.

You don’t need that out of one of your leaders. So I think the best thing for them and for Shockey is if they have the opportunity, let him go.

The good news is that my love for Shockey has already been gone.  I know that there are still plenty of Shockey supporters out there.  We all know that Shockey’s a stud when he wants to be, but you never know when you’re going to get that out of him.  The talent is there, but there is something wrong with this guy.  He’s still a child mentally and cries like a kid at the check-out in the supermarket who didn’t get candy.  Shockey jumps up and down screaming his way is the best way.  Jeremy hasn’t done much right for the organization since the Giants lost to the Seahawks in the 2005-2006 Playoffs.

Jeremy Shockey

Even the Giants admitted that they may have to suspend him this season if Shockey tries to stronghold the team.  That’s how serious this has gotten.  The problem is that Jerry Reese had the opportunity to trade Jeremy to the Saints for Draft picks prior to the Draft, but he declined because he didn’t like the offer.  Reese is going to get a lot less in return now he has to trade him.

Chris Baker

J.P. Pelzman of The Record pointed out that the Jets have a disgruntled Tight End named Chris Baker so maybe the Jets and Giants should swap TEs.  My problem with this is that Baker is nowhere near as good as Shockey, but even Shockey isn’t as good as the Shockey of old.  Baker is a much better blocker, but Shockey is a much better receiver.  At this point, the talent level needs to be overlooked a little bit because the Giants need a player that wants to play for the Giants.  Last season was Baker’s best year receiving wise, and he ended up with 41 receptions for 409 yards with 3 TDs.  Shockey had 57 receptions for 619 yards with 3 TDs, and he didn’t play the last few games.  Also remember how many times Shockey dropped passes and drew huge personal foul penalties in the red zone which costed the Giants points.  I do not believe that the Giants can swap these players straight up, but maybe if the Jets threw in another player or two then it could work.  What we saw last year was that the Giants can win the Super Bowl without all of the Pro Bowlers because they gelled as a team.  So if the Giants trade Shockey for somebody that wants to play TE for the Giants then we are already in better shape than we are now.  What good is Shockey going to do if he is suspended and on the bench?
